Cascade Lookout Now Open

The road to the Cascade Lookout is now open! Come for a drive and check out the views from above.

Please note that the road to the sub-alpine meadows will remain closed until Canada Day weekend due to bear habitat conservation.

  1. I’m hoping to hike Heather Trail- will it be open July 1st, which is a Wednesday- or the weekend before (or after)? The note above says Canada Day weekend but I’m not sure what that exactly means.

    • It’s our understanding that it is the weekend after July 1st, so starting on July 4th.

  2. Oh no! I’m heading up this weekend. Oh well, i’ll need to come back again for another trip. Just love it up there.

    • There are lots of other great trails in the park to check out too! You might consider Poland Lake or Skyline Trail if you’re looking for great views.

  3. Wanting to stay up at lookout point at night/early morning for some astrophotograpy. Is the Cascade lookout open for this?

    • Hi David, thanks for your question. The Cascade Lookout is an amazing place for astrophotography! Although camping is not permitted at the Lookout, the road does not close, so you are able to go up there at any time.

    • Thanks for your question! Yes, once the Cascade Lookout is open for the season, the gate stays open 24/7. Drive safely at night and enjoy the view!

  5. What are the alpine flowers like this year and what is the best time to view them?

    • The summer flowers are just starting to emerge in the sub-alpine meadows now. We expect that peak bloom is still about 2 weeks away or so. It’s a great time for a hike!

  6. We hope to view some flowers on Thursday, Aug 6. I’m bringing my sketch book. What 1 PM temp can we expect ?

    • Tomorrow’s weather is available on our little weather widget on the top right-hand corner of our website, beside the menu! Looks like it will be rain, with a high of 14 degrees.

  7. Are the wild flowers still blooming Aug. 25, 2020? We would like to take the drive up road to view the flowers.

    • Some of them are starting to look a little crispy now, but they are still in bloom.

  8. Is the access to the lookout open though out sept to Nov?

    • Hi John, we keep it open until the first few snowfalls, so there isn’t an exact date.
